Dr. Bawumia’s Digitalization Agenda Has Drastically Reduced Corruption And Must Be Applauded- Adomako Baafi

Former communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adomako Baafi has lauded the various digital initiatives rolled out by the government, championed by the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to him, these initiatives have immensely helped curbed corruption.

He categorically noted that right from the days of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah till date, no government has been able to fight corruption like President Akufo-Addo and former President Kufuor’s administration.

“All the NDC was able to do during Rawlings’ era was to level allegations against Acheampong among others and later killing them, when no evidence was provided for the alleged corruption cases. One of the best ways to fight corruption is through legislative instruments. Its only during the former President Kufuor’s era that laws were enacted to curb corruption including the Procurement act, Financial administrative act”, he told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show on Movement TV/Wontumi Radio.

Stressing that President Akufo-Addo has also beefed up the measures by creating the office of the Special Prosecutor. Which is one of the best institutions to fight corruption.

However, he is of the view that the digitalization of various sectors of Ghana’s economy has greatly helped to reduce corruption, an initiative by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

For him, it has dealt a big blow to corruption.

” Scores of policies and programmes the government has put in place to fight corruption including the digitisation of the economy through address system, ports, the Ghanacard, passport office, DVLA, GRA, SSNIT, NHIS, Lands Commission, Ghana.Gov platform, and others as evidence of Government’s commitment to fighting corruption”, he said.

Adding it is for this reason that some people have qualms with the NPP, because they don’t get the chance to steal again.
