Governance expert, Frederick Oduro, has reminded media houses to get their fact right while reporting technical issues, stressing that there is vast difference between missing and irregularities in financial reporting.
Speaking on the media’s report on the 2021 Auditors General Report on Movement TV with Kwaku Dawuro Mr. Oduro advised the media to feed the public with the right information.
He said that ”looking at the monies that are given to the assemblies and the supposed monies that are missing springs several questions. Non-compliance to the law and irregularities are not the same as missing- when projects are started and they are not completed, the money that was invested in it will be termed as missing. When someone judiciously uses money, it is not the same as theft, however it can be seen as inappropriate use of money. We must investigate issues before we start to speculate”.
He advised them to look at the report again and check item by item.
